Wedding Invite
A bespoke invitation designed to reflect the couple’s character.

This wedding invitation was created for a relaxed summer wedding in Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne. The couple planned an informal celebration with an outdoor ceremony followed by a picnic in the park with close friends and family. The design needed to clearly communicate several locations within the gardens for different parts of the day. Rather than presenting this in a conventional format, the design draws on the couple’s shared love of music and vinyl collecting, reimagining the invitation as a record sleeve.

Typography references the counterculture aesthetics of the late 1960s and 70s, evoking a ‘summer of love’ sensibility that reflects both the outdoor garden setting and the relaxed tone of the celebration. The invitation itself is structured around the familiar format of a vinyl record: the disc presents the order of the day as a tracklist, with moments of the wedding appearing as “songs” and timestamps, while the paper sleeve doubles as a custom map of Fitzroy Gardens, guiding guests between the conservatory ceremony and the picnic that follows.

Additional details such as worn vintage-style stickers and layered textures help reinforce the feel of a well-loved record, adding warmth and personality while subtly referencing the couple’s passion for music. The result is an invitation that functions both as a practical guide for guests and a keepsake reflecting the character of the celebration.
